Born in Magdenau/ Switzerland. Began to play Horn at the age of 16; at the age of 18 member of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. Prize winner of the Swiss Youth Music Competition. University diploma in history, german, french and latin, Fribourg. Teaching- and orchestra diploma Horn with T. Müller at the Music Academy Berne. Concertdiploma with D. Johnson at Music Academy Winterthur/ Zurich. Soloistdiploma with Bruno Schneider at Music Academy Geneva. Further studies with Timo Ronkainen and Kalervo Kulmala and conducting with Jorma Panula and Leif Segerstam, Helsinki, Finland. Price winner Kiwanis competition, Yvonne Lang-Chardonnens foundation. Solo-Horn of Camerata Schweiz. International activity as soloist and chamber musicien. Natural Horn and Alphorn soloist. Jury member of the Swiss Youth Music Competition. Guest conductor University Orchestras of Berne and Helsinki, Orchestergesellschaft Zürich, Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, Juvenalia and at the Alexander Theater Helsinki Finland. Currently Christian Holenstein plays Solo-Horn with the Berne Symphony Orchestra.
