Albert Diringer
Albert Diringer was trained as a piano manufacturer by a former master at Pleyel’s piano
factory. He studied the violin at the Mulhouse Conservatoire, which trained his ear to the high
level for piano tuning. He also improved his talent by attending different training courses at
the Bösendorfer piano factory in Vienna. In 1974 Albert left for Greece where he and his
family spent four years. There he became the official tuner of the Athens Music Festival. In
this capacity he used to prepare the pianos of Sviatoslav Richter, Gina Bachauer, Mikis
Theodorakis and many others. Many famous pianists like Lord Curzon, Philippe Colard,
Elisabeth Leonskaya, Brigitte Meyer, Georgy Cziffra, Nikita Magalov, Vlado Perlemuter,
Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancok, Chick Corea and others valued his professional skills very
highly. As a representative of Bösendorfer he became an official supplier of concert pianos.
Today he is a passionate piano restorer of Bechstein, Bösendorfer, Steinway, Pleyel
pianos…. He is also in a highly demand to bring back the original sound of ancient
instruments and to improve (if not correct) the often metallic sonority of contemporary pianos.
Albert is a cofounder of the Lavaux Classical Music Festival (Vevey-Montreux Region) and
organises concerts for young musicians to promote their talent.
