Lissauer Peter


Peter Lissauer started to play the violin at the age of six and pursued early music studies at the Bartok Specialist Music High School in Budapest followed by undergraduate music studies at Trinity College of Music in London. He then moved to the USA , where he studied at Brandeis University in Boston and completed his Masters in Music at Yale University. On his return to Hungary, he taught at the Bartok Specialist Music High School and at the Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest for a period of ten years. During this time Peter also performed as soloist and chamber musician. On moving to the UK, he has performed with leading period ensembles around the world. He has participated in numerous recordings. Between 2003 and 2012 he was Head of Strings at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) where he also taught violin, viola and chamber music. He teaches at summer courses regularly and has given masterclasses in Poznan, Katowicze, Stuttgart, Rostov, Salzburg, Budapest, Beijing, Guang Zhou, Chengdu and Wuhan. He has also served on the juries of international and national competitions. His students play and teach internationally.​
