Vladimir Lakatos studied violin in his native country Romania, gained artistic and teaching diplomas at the Music Academy in Bucharest and was a member of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra (Bucharest). Since 1980 he is a member of the Munich Radio Orchestra. Vladimir Lakatos has a considerable activity in solo performance and chamber music.
He is the prize-winner of the String Quartet Competition in Evian. He has also undertaken numerous engagements at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Munich Philharmonic.
Since 1985 he has been a violin teacher at the Swabian Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra, and since 2003, also chamber music teacher at the Summer Music Academy Sighisoara (Romania).
Lakatos Vladimir is a founder member of the Festival for Chamber Music Prats-de-Carlux. He had numerous appearances and performed with well-known artists at the Sighisoara Music Festival: Alexandru Gavrilovici (violin, Bern), Cordelia Höfer (piano, Mozarteum Salzburg), Diana Kettler (piano, London), Götz Teutsch (violincello, Berlin Philharmonic), Dan Cavassi (cello, Bucharest State Philharmonic), Imre Rohmann (piano, Mozarteum Salzburg), Cristian Petrescu (piano, Berlin/Recklinghausen).
