Sighisoara Academy - always a cultural project priority for Spain,Jul 26, 2014

In the 21st edition of the Sighisoara Academy, scheduled between August 1-14, the four Spaniards will perform alongside Marie Trottman.

First Secretary of the Embassy of Spain in Bucharest Virginia Gonzalez Martinez, responsible with consular, administrative and cultural affairs told Agerpres yesterday in Targu Mures (northeast of Bucharest) that the Sighisoara Academy, now at its 21st edition, was always a priority cultural project for Spain and therefore the participation of the Leonor Quartet has become a constant.

We are speaking of four very talented young musicians that have managed to, in this formula, win numerous national and international awards, among them of not being the well-known ‘Critical Eye’ Award granted to this group in 2011 by the National Radio Channel of Spain’, said Virginia Gonzalez Martinez.

The Leonor Quartet of Madrid is composed of Delphine Caserta (violin), Bruno Vidal (violin), Jaime Huertas (viola) and Alvaro Huertas (cello).
In the 21st edition of the Sighisoara Academy, scheduled between August 1-14, the four Spaniards will perform alongside Marie Trottman, in a show featuring a so-called ‘breaking in’ of the harp donated to the festival by Swiss music lovers.
The Spanish diplomat has shown that, beside the Sighisoara concerts, the Leonor Quartet will hold concerts in August in the towns of Sibiu and Medias (central Romania). She mentioned that, through its name, the Leonor Quartet pays homage to the great Spanish poet Antonio Machado, whose wife was named Leonor.

The Sighisoara Academy is set to open on August 1, 2014, the national day of the Swiss Confederation; this year it was first organized by the Cultura Viva Sighisoara Association of Bern and the Gheorghe Dima Musical Academy in Cluj-Napoca, in a partnership with the Sighisoara Municipality. The event benefits from a Swiss grant.
