Collin Hansen studied at the Eastman School of Music, New York, with Frank Glazer, and with Katarina Nummi in Finland. He received his diploma and master's degree in piano performance from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Following his successful debut as a soloist, he has been a frequent guest on the stages of major festivals and concert venues, as well as making numerous appearances on television and radio. Mr. Hansen's skills as a lied partner are very much in demand, and he has concertized in all the Scandinavia countries, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, France, Estonia, Mexico, China, Canada, and USA including Carnegie Hall. He has guested as soloist with several Finnish and Scandinavian orchestras performing the music of Mozart and Beethoven as well as that of Messiaen and Stravinsky. He is also a sought-after pedagogue, giving frequent masterclasses, and having collaborated on the masterclasses of many masters such as Birgit Nilsson, Teresa Berganza, Peter Schreir, Irina Gavrilovici, Vera Rosza, Olaf Bär, Tom Krause, and Gundula Janovitch. At present, Collin Hansen has a tenured position at the Sibelius Academy, and is artistic director of the Viitasaari LuomuLaulu Festival.
